They are expecting at least 1\,200 adults and children for the tryout from all parts of LA\, San Diego and Palm Springs/palm Desert. That’s the official line from Laguna Beach … now\, for the real scoop: \nThe Laguna Beach Art Walk is a great bit of strolling and trolley-ing fun throughout Laguna Beach\, all packed into just a few hours on the first Thursday of each month.\nExpect many galleries to be open throughout the City\, and expect hundreds and hundreds of milling throngs as people drop in on their favorite galleries to chat with artists in person\, grab great art at sometimes-special pricing\, sip wine and gnosh on free goodies. \nYou can also expect to see restaurants and other retail shops in on the game of it\, too\, keeping their doors open well past their usual closing hours. \nI usually head out with a few friends and we make a night of it with both walking and trolley rides. \nTROLLEY SERVICE\nFree trolley service for art walk starts at 6:30 pm and ends at 9:30 pm. Trolleys begin at the Laguna Art Museum (north) and Bluebird Canyon Road (south). The trolley route runs as far north as Viejo Street\, up Laguna Canyon Road as far as Canyon Acres\, and south to Bluebird Canyon Road. Map \nPARKING\nMetered parking is available along Coast Hwy. and a few blocks inland on either side of the street and is free after 7:00 pm. If you prefer\, you may park in the residential area located 2-3 blocks inland from Coast Hwy.

DESCRIPTION:Laguna native grown Kaj Garmshausen has been carving since he was a kid\, but only recently decided it might actually prove a source of income.  On Sunday\, Nov. 18th\, he’s doing his first artistic show as he’s joining forces with fellow Laguna artist Alexandra Neptune from 3 -7 p.m. at the Neptune School of Wine at 3315 Hyland Ave\, Costa Mesa. \nThis event will feature at least 12 pieces\, including one I saw emerging from a giant block of wood just a month ago. A self-taught artist\, Kaj says he favors California native woods and his pieces reveal his love of the California coast as many carvings are simply derived from driftwood he finds in various pockets up and down California. DESCRIPTION:In its annual Art & Nature festival\, Laguna Art Museum presents special exhibitions\, a commissioned outdoor work of art\, lectures\, panel discussions\, films\, and family activities on the theme of art’s engagement with the natural world. \nOn November 3\, 2018\, Elizabeth Turk’s Shoreline Project will bring together 1\,000 volunteer performers for a site-specific performance in Laguna Beach. The project is the commissioned work of art for Laguna Art Museum’s sixth annual Art & Nature\, and will take place at sunset on Main Beach. With LED-illuminated umbrellas designed as an evolution of the artist’s Seashell X-ray Mandala series\, the 1\,000 performers will converge on the shoreline in both spontaneous and choreographed movement. Shoreline Project will create a shared common experience amongst the performers and an engaging spectacle for viewers from the surrounding cliffs and buildings.

DESCRIPTION:This Saturday marks the 100-year anniversary of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association LPAPA). \nTo celebrate the official day on which the original Laguna Beach Art Association was founded in 1918\, the Laguna Art Museum has invited LPAPA as one of its Community Arts Partners to join the LBAA Birthday Party celebration this Saturday\, Aug 25\, with a LPAPA Paint Out En Plein Air at Heisler Park. \nThe Plein Air Paint Out event will begin at 9 a.m. with artists painting en plein air throughout Heisler Park. This is a free outdoor event presented in collaboration with the museum’s LBAA Birthday Party Celebration that starts at 10 a.m. with free docent-led exhibition tours at the museum. \nSee more details on the day’s events here \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:The art season in Laguna Beach flourishes year round with First Thursdays Art Walk. This educational monthly art event\, held on the first Thursday of every month from 6 – 9pm\, celebrates the diverse cultural art scene of Laguna Beach and is free to the public. \nThere. That’s the official line from Laguna Beach … now\, for the real scoop: \nThe Laguna Beach Art Walk is a great bit of strolling and trolley-ing fun throughout Laguna Beach\, all packed into just a few hours on the first Thursday of each month.\nAugust’s event on Aug. 2nd promises to be a biggie as it’s the last official Art Walk of summer. Expect many\, many galleries to be open throughout the City\, and expect hundreds and hundreds of milling throngs as people drop in on their favorite galleries to chat with artists in person\, grab great art at sometimes-special pricing\, sip wine and gnosh on free goodies. \nYou can also expect to see restaurants and other retail shops in on the game of it\, too\, keeping their doors open well past their usual closing hours. \nI usually head out with a few friends and we make a night of it with both walking and trolley rides. \nTROLLEY SERVICE\nFree trolley service for art walk starts at 6:30 pm and ends at 9:30 pm. Trolleys begin at the Laguna Art Museum (north) and Bluebird Canyon Road (south). The trolley route runs as far north as Viejo Street\, up Laguna Canyon Road as far as Canyon Acres\, and south to Bluebird Canyon Road. Map \nPARKING\nMetered parking is available along Coast Hwy. and a few blocks inland on either side of the street and is free after 7:00 pm. If you prefer\, you may park in the residential area located 2-3 blocks inland from Coast Hwy.

DESCRIPTION:Laguna Beach’s famed Pageant of the Masters 2018 is the only one of its kind in the world. It’s a sizable annual venture that diligently re-creates famous paintings\, sculptures and statues\, from the famous DaVinci Las Supper to Rome’s famed Trevi Fountain (yes\, live people are “plastered” from head to toe to resemble the characters in the fountain.” It’s really an extraordinary experience. \nIn its 85th year this summer of 2018\, the Pageant’s theme is “Under the Sun\,” celebrating plein air artistry (meaning “outdoor painting”). As Laguna Beach has been a plein air mecca since its early days as an art colony\, expect many references to local legends as well as global impressionists and painters who set up their easels outdoors to paint nature’s true beauty. \nTickets range in price from $15 to $240 every night of the week from July 7th to September 1st. DESCRIPTION:In conjunction with Laguna Beach’s world renowned Pageant of the Masters\, the Pageant’s Festival o Arts Art Show is a rich exhibit of Orange County artists\, and includes demonstrations\, art workshops\, daily art tours\, live music and more. Its jury process and open-air gallery setting allow this festival to please all types of connoisseurs. The 2018 show features original artwork from 140 award-winning artists from Orange County. \nArt-related attractions and special events include jazz concerts\, wine and chocolate pairings\, and guided and audio art tours throughout the eight-week run.
