DESCRIPTION:The Swallows Day Parade is part of the Fiesta de las Golondrinas\, or Festival of the Swallows\, a celebration of the return of the migratory songbird to Mission San Juan Capistrano on St. Joseph’s Day. \nDuring this three-month Fiesta de las Golondrinas\, the Fiesta Association is responsible for various fundraising and community activities including Taste of San Juan\, Kids Pet Parade\, El Presidenté Ball\, Fiesta Grande which includes the Hairiest Man & Soiled Dove Contests\, and the infamous Hoos’Gow Day round-up\, all culminating with the Swallows Day Parade and The Mercado. \nThe Parade takes place throughout downtown San Juan Capistrano. The Swallows Day Parade is one of the nation’s largest non-motorized parade. It is a spectacular event that you will want to attend. It is organized and presented by the San Juan Capistrano Fiesta Association. \nTake the convenient Shuttle Bus or arrive early as most street closures are in effect by 10AM. This is a fun family event celebrating the annual return of the swallows. Laguna Palooza is an original\, family-friendly musical spoof (think “Lagunatics Junior”) that takes aim at the challenges of being a kid in our town. DESCRIPTION:The 49th Annual Festival of Whales\, a two weekend celebration of the California Grey Whale migration\, kicks off on Saturday\, March 7th with its Whale Festival Parade. \nThe parade embraces the Festival’s theme of Magical Migration with parade floats and entries decorating in an ocean/whale theme and costumes. Giant helium parade balloons of a Blue Whale\, Orca and many other sea life creatures fill the air over head during the parade. \nThe parade promptly begins at 10 AM with a NEW ROUTE beginning at Dana Drive on the island side of Island Way and then proceeding over the Island Way bridge\, then right on Dana Point Harbor Drive and ending at Golden Lantern and Dana Point Harbor Drive. \nCome early and enjoy breakfast in the harbor before catching a shuttle to the parade viewing area. SUMMARY:Laguna Craft Guild - Main Beach
DESCRIPTION:Although the location has changed over the years\, on Sunday\, Feb 9\, the Laguna Craft Guild continues an over four-decade tradition of setting up their wares for the community. The artisan group will be displaying at the Cobblestones at Main Beach from 9 a.m. until sunset.  \nThe Laguna Craft Guild was started in the early 1970s as a way for local artists and craftsmen to sell their work. It is a non-juried show with two simple rules: you live in Laguna Beach and you make what you sell. Originally Forest Avenue was closed on Sundays\, and the artists set up for the day a few times a year. Later the show was on Ocean some days and on Forest some days.  \nThe group’s current home is on the Cobblestones next to The Greeter’s Corner Restaurant on 14 Sundays a year. The artists must be present to show their work so this is a great opportunity for the public to meet the makers.

DESCRIPTION:Newport Bay is richly illuminated with millions of lights and hundreds of themed estates. The parade takes place over 5 nights from the third Wednesday to the third Sunday in December. Elaborate Christmas light displays of bayfront estates with their Ring Of Lights competition and one of the largest decorated boat parades in the country. Hundreds of decorated ships of all sizes compete for top awards in over a half dozen categories. The Newport Beach Boat Parade is viewed by over 1.5 million people each season and is one of the largest boat parades you will likely ever see. Millions of holiday lights are a part of the Newport Beach Boat Parade and Ring Of Lights decorations making Newport Bay a “must see” for the holiday season. \nIf you’re not on a boat itself\, the Newport Boat Parade schedule is almost 4 hours with the parade passing different restaurants at different times.

Celebrating 42 years on Nov. 28\, 2019\, the flat\, scenic race features a variety of races. \nThis year\, even armchair racers who choose to remain in bed eating turkey sausage and eggs can be a “race participant” in the new “virtual racer.” \n10k race begins at 7:00 A.M. \n5k race begins at 8:30 A.M. and again at 9:30 AM – Due to many requests\, the race organizers have combined our two 5k races (formally 5K Masters and 5K Open).  Both 5k races will be open to all age divisions.  The first race will start at 8:30 am and the other one at 9:30 am.  Race results will be available after the 9:30 am race. \nThe Kids’ Gobble Wobble starts t 10:15 AM for ages 4-12 \nRegistration is now open! \n

DESCRIPTION:Years ago\, Ruben Flores of Laguna Nursery fame started the Garden Walk at his original location at Mountain and Coast Highway and continued the tradition after moving the nursery to North Laguna at Jasmine. \nThis is absolutely the best tour in Laguna Beach. And it’s year-round! Every time I go on these walks\, I have so much darned fun. Ruben is a walking Wiki of every imaginable tree\, shrub\, flowering weirdness and weed. \nBut it doesn’t stop there. Because Ruben has expanded his landscape architect business to interior rescue as well\, Ruben knows every architectural style (and where people mix and match building materials or all the wrong plants in the rudest of ways). He talks about pavers and sprinkler placement and where the sun will shine on an inappropriately located plant. \nIt’s the most imaginative way to really discover the magic of Laguna Beach. Usually about two hours in length\, the Garden Walk is just $10 for thousands of dollars of advice.
