SUMMARY:Wine & Painting Nights - Provincetown Sailboat
DESCRIPTION:Three longtime and popular artists – Mark Jacobucci\, Mike Tauber and Anthony Salvo – are offering specific painting subjects on Saturday evenings. This is super cool (and non-intimidating fun)\, whether you choose to paint sunsets\, donuts or the Monterey coastline. These sell out very quickly\, so get on it. Here are notes on each week’s artist and subject matter that you’ll be painting and taking home with you. \nCost is $75 and includes supplies\, complimentary wine or beverage and Festival admission. Classes begin at 8:30 p.mm. and are 1.5 hours. You must be 21 years of age or older. Reservations are absolutely required. \nOn July 13\, Mark Jacobucci teaches you how to paint a Provincetown Sailboat. \nMark Jacobucci grew up on Cape Cod in Massachusetts. As a child he was prodigious at drawing and maintained a cartoon strip in a local newspaper for several years. He painted in high school and college. He attended Brandeis University earning a BA with highest honors in fine arts and then a Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture at the University of Massachusetts\, Amherst. Since coming to California in 1985 he has participated in the landscape planning and design of many significant communities throughout the region.

DESCRIPTION:My favorite weekly event at the Festival of Art? Easy. Thursday evening’s “Art\, Jazz\, Wine & Chocolate.” It’s a great evening of wine and chocolate tastings\, with great music to boot! \nI’m not sure that this event needs a lot of salesmanship. It happens every Thursday night through the festival season from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. \nYou’ll be able to sample a variety of Kendall Jackson wines\, each of which is expertly paired with a variety of high end chocolates from XAN Confections. As you enjoy your chocolates and wine\, you have free run of the Festival grounds to peruse art from 140 California-based artists. Meanwhile\, different jazz ensembles entertain weekly. Thursday\, July 11th  features Ty Taylor’s Nouveau Mid-Century Romance Songbook. He has toured with Tina Turner\, Eric Clapton\, Celine Dion\, Macy Grey\, Joss Stone\, and Fiona Apple. Taylor was also in the Top 10 hit band\, Dakota Moon on Elektra Records. As front man for Los Angeles-based Rhythm and Blues\, Soul\, Rock and Roll band\, Vintage Trouble\, he has opened for The Rolling Stones in Hyde Park\, 51 shows for The Who on the Quadrophenia Tour\, Lenny Kravitz\, Mavis Staples\, KISS\, and Bon Jovi. \nTickets\nTickets for “Art\, Jazz\, Wine & Chocolate” are $20\, which does not include Festival of Arts admission or reserved seating. You must be 21 to participate.\nThe Festival is always free to Laguna Beach residents and military. Otherwise\, General Admission on Thursday evenings is $10\, $7 for seniors and $5 children\, ages 6-12. Gates open at noon. \nVIP Seats a Plus\nIf you’re more interested in sitting and sipping vs. walking through the art show\, limited reserved seating is available for the jazz at an additional $35 per person. You will be able to reserve your Thursday VIP seats from any Thursday page. \nSee you at the FOA!

SUMMARY:Pageant of the Masters 2019
DESCRIPTION:Laguna Beach’s famed Pageant of the Masters 2019 is the only one of its kind in the world. It’s a sizable annual venture that diligently re-creates famous paintings\, sculptures and statues\, from the famous DaVinci Las Supper to Rome’s famed Trevi Fountain (yes\, live people are “plastered” from head to toe to resemble the characters in the fountain.” It’s really an extraordinary experience. \nIn its 86th year this summer of 2019\, the Pageant of the Master’s theme is “The Time Machine.” Marty McFly from “Back to the Future” and Doctor Who owe a debt to Victorian writer H.G. Wells who published his first novel\, The Time Machine\, in 1895. Wells tapped into a fascination for time travel that continues to inspire artists in every medium. \nIn the 2019 Pageant of the Masters\, “The Time Machine” will take audiences around the globe and into the past\, present and future in search of great art and amazing stories. Taking its cues from science fiction and steampunk fantasies\, “The Time Machine” will be your ticket to thrills\, laughter\, beautiful music and extraordinary living art under the stars. \nTickets range in price from $15 to $240 every night of the week from July 7th to August 31st. Go to: FOAPOM.com for tickets and more.

SUMMARY:Ruben Flores' Garden Walk
DESCRIPTION:Years ago\, Ruben Flores of Laguna Nursery fame started the Garden Walk at his original location at Mountain and Coast Highway and continued the tradition after moving the nursery to North Laguna at Jasmine. \nThis is absolutely the best tour in Laguna Beach. And it’s year-round! Every time I go on these walks\, I have so much darned fun. Ruben is a walking Wiki of every imaginable tree\, shrub\, flowering weirdness and weed. \nBut it doesn’t stop there. Because he has expanded his landscape architect business to interior rescue as well\, Ruben knows every architectural style (and where people mix and match building materials or all the wrong plants in the rudest of ways). He talks about pavers and sprinkler placement and where the sun will shine on an inappropriately located plant. \nIt’s the most imaginative way to really discover the magic of Laguna Beach. Usually about two hours in length\, the Garden Walk is just $10 for thousands of dollars of advice. Wear good walking shoes and bring water. \nLaguna Nursery and Ruben’s landscape business\, Visionscape\, Inc. are located together at 397 North Coast Highway (Jasmine cross street). Call to reserve your Garden Walk at (949) 494-5200.

SUMMARY:Wine & Chocolate Tastings + Billy Valentine
DESCRIPTION:My favorite weekly event at the Festival of Art? Easy. Thursday evening’s “Art\, Jazz\, Wine & Chocolate.” It’s a great evening of wine and chocolate tastings\, with great music to boot! \nI’m not sure that this event needs a lot of salesmanship. When you have art\, live jazz\, wine and chocolate at your disposal for two full hours\, life can’t get much better. Thursday\, Aug. 1st  features multitalented vocalist Billy Valentine. His glorious singing voice can be heard on the hit series Son’s of Anarchy and  on  the television series\, Boston Legal\, from the theme song right through to the end of each and every episode. Billy began his professional career as a solo artist opening for such luminaries as Donny Hathaway and Roberta Flack in the 1970s. He also was the lead singer for the group Young Holt Unltd. \nBilly and his brother John went on to form the duo The Valentine Brothers\, touring and producing four albums from 1975-1989. The duo co-wrote the memorable hit single “Money’s Too Tight (To Mention)\,” which appeared on their album First Take. “Money’s Too Tight” gained widespread popularity in 1986 when it was released as a single\, and on video\, performed by Simply Red. \nBilly’s singing career quickly expanded into theatre and film. In 1977\, he toured with the first national touring company of The Wiz as one of its main orchestra voices\, staying with the show for over 3 years. In the mid 1980s\, he sang lead vocals for the documentary\, Champions Forever\, a film about Ali\, Frazier and Foreman. In the early 1990s\, Billy was the singing voice for the lead vocalist character in Robert Townsend’s feature film\, The Five Heartbeats. He joined the show It Ain’t Nothin’ But the Blues\, performing at the Geffen Theatre in Los Angeles and the San Diego Rep in the late ’90s. Go online to http://foapom.com\, click the CALENDAR\, and then choose your Thursday evening attendance. You will be able to reserve your Thursday VIP seats from any Thursday page. \nSee you at the FOA!
