It’s another beautiful day in Laguna Beach and the crowds are thick at Aliso Beach to watch “The Vic,” – The Victoria Skimboards World Championship… and what a great contest it’s been.
This morning, amidst great swells and hinky waters, 9 heats of Pro Skimboard Men were whittled down to leave just 18 pro skimboarders (men) moving forward to the next round.
[singlepic id=299 w=320 h=240 mode=watermark float=right] Reigning 2010 Vic World Champ Mo Just and Bill Beakdog Bryan, last year’s 2nd place finisher, set the pace in the initial 2 heats with obvious plans to beat back the hungry dogs.
Sam Stinnett took the day’s first and only perfect 10 score, and Tim Fulton, Austin Keen, Teddy Vlasis and Isaac Zoller had crowning moments each of their own. See the slideshow below for a few hastily added (and unedited) pix of some better moments at Vic Skim’s opening day. (Click any photo for a big-screen view,)
The Pro Women closed the morning with strong showings from last year’s Vic Skim World Champ Anna Prophet, with Lanakila Kelliher and D’Ambrosio showing great form. (Next round posts weren’t available at the lunch break as yet, but I’ll get to ’em!)
Currently, Pro Skimboarding Men moving into the next round are:
Blair Conklin, Omar Meddab, Koty Lopez, Sam Stinnett, Perry Wells, Tim Fulton, Teddy Vlasis, Jake Stinnett, Isaac Zoller, Harley Nelson, Bill Bryan, Brad Domke, Brandon Sears, Paulo Prietto, Matthieu Thibaud, Morgan Just, Austin Keen and Hunter Poller.

This is a seriously great event. If you can’t get down today, make sure you make plans in your schedule for a day at Aliso beach, tomrrow (Sunday) for finals action.
