On Wednesday, April 24th, the 24th annual “A Taste for Charity” is hosting a rousing number of local restaurants, live music and sizable silent and live auctions to raise funds for 10 local non-profit organizations.
Some tables are still available for sponsorship purchase, and individual tickets are just $60 online or $70 at the door. For tickets go to: http://www.lbr-caf.info/
A locals’ favorite
This is one of my favorite local events. With great chefs, live music and fun auction items all for a fantastic cause, it certainly hits all the high points. But, it’s really one of my faves because it’s one of our first locally-oriented events of the year, giving us that rare opportunity to re-connect with friends and catch up on all the latest news before we dive underground for the summer season.
Fun food & new faces
There’s certainly no lack of inventive tastes at Taste for Charity, either. This year, taste treats will be aplenty from 11 restaurants that include Nirvana Grille, Kitchen in the Canyon, Laguna Beach Beer Company, The Cliff, Gelato Paradiso, Skyloft, Carmelita’s Kitchen, K’ya Bistro/Rooftop and Tommy Bahama. Even the popular Butchery in Newport Coast’s Crystal Cove is participating this year.
“As a native of Laguna Beach, having the restaurant is a direct way to contribute to this town with something that I love to do,” said Nirvana Grille Owner/Chef Lindsay Smith-Rosales.
“A Taste for Charity takes that one level higher by allowing me to support the community I was raised in. It’s great to know that we’re helping these amazing non-profits benefit from what we do really well. It’s just makes sense and it’s really validating,” she said.
Looking to top $80k this year
Hosted by The Laguna Board of Realtors and Charitable Assistance Fund, these people don’t mess around. Last year, more than $80,000 was raised between table sales, individual tickets and the silent/live auctions. Brendy Michaels, the Board of Realtors’ Community Events Chairperson says the hope is to top $100,000 this year.
“Wells Fargo is our Title Sponsor this year, and they’ve been phenomenal sponsors with us for eight years now,” says Brendy. “We’ve also had a great number of media and real estate-oriented companies participate in our Gold and Silver sponsorships this year. It’s great to see so much local participation and support for each of our vital, home-grown non-profit organizations.”
The raised funds are divvied up between the all-local non-profit recipients, this year’s lucky ones being Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach, Laguna Food Pantry, Laguna Beach Seniors, Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, First Thursday Art Walk, LOCA Art Foundation, No Square Theatre, LBOR Charitable Assistance Fund, The Laguna Beach High School Scholarship Fund and Sally’s Fund.
See you next Wednesday at A Taste for Charity!
