First in Costa Mesa, Bonzai Bowl, with its acai bowls and acai smoothies, quietly made its way into Laguna Beach a couple years ago. It’s been nothing less than a constant stream of human “ants” in and out the doors ever since.
With a base of healthy berry Acai, the folks at Bonzai whip up a veritable mountain of fresh, organic, fruits, nuts, milks, and even spinach and celery to create any one of 6 smoothies or 7 acai bowls. No sugars, yogurt, sorbet or ice. These folks are serious. I’ve done the taste test on their SMALL Maui edition (with coconut, bananas and blueberries) and can say, without a doubt, Bonzai deserves its namesake (rousing cheer).
