‘Tis the season, I know, but if you’ve noticed that a whole raft of scarecrows are perking up around town, you’re not the first one.
As it turns out, it’s a citywide Scarecrow Contest. On the Laguna Chamber of Commerce’s suggestion, 22 retailers, restaurants and service providers are crafting their best ‘crows in hopes of winning admiring points from voters and ultimate fame and fortune. The one you see here is Laguna Nursery’s entry, one of the first Scarecrows to make the scene this weekend.
Admiring voters are us – the residents and visitors of Laguna Beach. I’ve attached the Chamber’s Scarecrow Scorecard (try saying that fast 10 times), and the Map of competing ‘Crows here. Just open it, print it and set out on your own Scarecrow Walkabout. As you will see, competitors range from as far south as Spa Josephine at Mountain and PCH, and as far north as the Art Hotel. Each competitor offers a handy depository for your completed ballot; you have till Oct 25th to make your vote count!
