Our visiting monks continue to work tirelessly on the “Buddhist healing” sand mandala at the Neighborhood Congregational Church. Their work is so crazily intricate and careful as they hunch over their work in progress for hours at a time.
Tomorrow, Sunday, the monks will continue to work through the church service, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., and then will begin the Dissolution Ceremony, sweeping the entire mandala away. From there, they lead a processing to the ocean where they release the sand with blessing and prayer.
Again, this is such an amazing event to observe. And, the Dissolution Ceremony is surprising to see, even when you think you’re prepared for it! I can’t encourage you enough to make a point of stopping by the Congregational Church, 340 St. Ann’s Drive, before this event concludes.
