Chef Amar Santana laughing

September is beginning in grand style with three of Laguna’s own chefs participating in the annual “To Live and Dine in O.C.” this Thursday, Sept 1st at Soka University. Tickets are just $40 in advance and $50 at the door.

It’s the beginning of a cornucopia of September foodie events that will include the L.A. Times Taste, Flavors of Orange County, The Golden Foodie Awards event, James Beard’s Taste America in L.A., and even our own Taste of Laguna.

“To Live and Dine in O.C.” is hosted by Modern Luxury Magazine as a benefit for the Soka University Education Fund and features a number of top-shelf restaurants with specific chefs participating in a Chef’s Challenge.

One of our chefs – Broadway’s Amar Santana – is fairly accustomed to chef challenges, having endured an entire season this last year to the final round on Bravo’s Top Chef. On Thursday night, he hopes to emerge the victor, but he’s decidedly up against some solid O.C. competition.

Joining Chef Amar will be Chef Rainer Schwarz of Driftwood Kitchen and Chef David Shaw of Coastal Peruvian, one of Laguna’s newest eateries and recently touted as one of the “Top 13 Most Exciting Restaurants in the O.C.”

At least 22 Orange County restaurants will be doling out foodie samples, including popular go-to spots such as “A” Restaurant in Newport Beach, The Winery Restaurant, Waterline at the Balboa Bay Resort, and the posh Oak Grill.

Get your tickets in advance at ToLiveandDineOC.eventbrite.com and schedule your UBER ride at the same time. See you there!
