If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know that I’m a big fan of the now 3-year-old Newport Beach Wine & Food Festival.
Honestly, I think it’s one of the best events in Southern California. The team at NBWFF started out with a bang in 2014, and the show is only getting better as the seasons wear on.
And, because you’re my faithful Laguna Beach Best reader, I’ve got a coupon just for you!

Why I Love This Wine & Food Fest
This year, the Wine & Food Fest has been pushed back a bit to Saturday, Oct. 1st and Sunday, Oct. 2nd,. One major win for these folks – they only bring in the best of the best in food and wine, so don’t be expecting bacon-wrapped cronuts or some kind of fast food chicken booth.
For 2016’s season, 42 of the top O.C. restaurants are in play. Twenty restaurants participate on Saturday (including our own Laguna Beach Slapfish, Driftwood Kitchen and Broadway By Amar Santana, with great bookend neighbors, Pelican Grill (Pelican Hill Resort) and AVEO Bar + Grill (Monarch Beach Resort), too.
On Sunday, the remaining 22 restaurants are in play, including our own Montage Laguna Beach and Selanne Steak Tavern.
Aside from celebrity chef demonstrations, Master Sommelier Panels, live music, handmade cocktail booths and cooking classes (that are quite awesome), the real focus is on the wine – 240 purveyors, to be exact. (Woo-hoo!) Once again, this isn’t Two Buck Chuck wine sampling – these are serious vintners, serious wines.
It’s a laid-back, sophisticated afternoon and, although it’s plenty popular, it’s not a mob of frenzied “try this next wine sample” kind of mentality.
