For years in the ’80s and ’90s, Diane Armitage made regular pilgrimages to Southern California from her home state, Colorado, in search of that elusive promise of every sandy, sun-drenched commercial you’d see about California. And, each and every time, she’d return to Colorado, convinced that Southern California wasn’t for her.
That all changed in the year 2000 when she had the opportunity to relocate to Laguna Beach. It didn’t take long to realize that Laguna Beach was a magical, mystical vortex unto itself.
Forget that it’s one of the most memorable, awe-inspiring coastlines in the world … Forget that it houses one of the largest, most sophisticated collections of artists anywhere in the world …Forget that it’s an enclave, isolated from the rest of Orange County’s vast, flat sprawl with just three points of access … What Diane came to love most about Laguna Beach was its small town feel (just 23,000 residents) even in the middle of the busiest tourist weekend (swelling to more than 100,000 people on any given weekend day). She knew she had come home.
As a writer and Internet strategist for the likes of The Secret, Bob Proctor, the Chicken Soup gentlemen, and corporate global entities far and wide, it wasn’t long before Diane Armitage was writing about everything she loved in Laguna Beach to friends and family around the world. In 2008, a blog seemed the next best step. Now, RSS subscribers and hundreds of readers each week get the scoop on Laguna Beach’s best “insider” secrets and resident favorites.
Although “true to her school” for time eternal, Diane Armitage now travels and writes for several national and international entities and travel magazines, ever on the discovery path to the “best of” this world has to offer.
