Superbowl Sunday in Laguna Beach

Some of you may already be committed to viewing the Animal Planet’s 10th Annual Puppy Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 2nd (national anthem again warbled by Pepper the Parrot).

Others of you may already be committed to couch time at yours or a friend’s house for a viewing of the frozen tundra of New Jersey as our boys get down to business.

But for those of you still looking for a place to roost, there are a few great restaurant/pub Superbowl parties in Laguna Beach, too.

Of course, ever the biggest and (probably) rowdiest is The House of Big Fish & Ice Cold Beer. This is a first-come, first-served event that begins filling quickly as soon as doors open for Sunday breakfast at 9:30 a.m. (That’s a lot of hours, and a lot of beers and nachos, if you ask me.) The place rocks with a Superbowl foodie menu ($2 specials with beverage purchase!), hourly raffle give-aways and the largest number of TVs in town.

Looking for something a tiny bit more subdued where you can at least hear the Superbowl commercials? Aim for Starfish Asian Cuisine’s Superbowl Party with doors opening at 11:00 a.m. The full menu is there for the asking, and bartenders are serving up specialty “Super Drinks” throughout the televised event. For the record, Starfish just began takeout service AND offers 20% off all take-out and parties to go on Sundays … not bad timing if you’re looking to dice up your own Superbowl feasting with a serious foodie experience.

Of course, Henessey’s offers up its own Superbowl Party in Laguna Beach with Champagne Buckets, Bloody Mary and beer specials throughout. Or, trot over to the locals-friendly Lumberyard for their numerous big screens and classic Lumberyard bar fare, great burgers and drink specials throughout the game.

Other usual suspects include The Marine Room (they actually pre-empt the Missiles’ Sunday Service), The White House and The Deck at the Pacific Edge Hotel, but not many details on Superbowl-styled specials or drink specials this year for our roving reporters to report. But, you can always bet on many TVs blaring and cold drinks somewhere nearby. Check into our Facebook page and tell us where you’re roosting for the Superbowl Parties in Laguna Beach!
