As they say in Irish climes, “If you’re lucky enough to be Irish, you’re lucky enough!”

This coming Friday, March 17th, is St. Patrick’s Day, the glorious holiday when all of us revel in the Irish way of life and luck, if just to don green socks and find our way to a smooth Irish whiskey.  And, now that Uber has become a staple of our lives, it seems a much better idea these days to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day parties out there in the world of fellow “Irish For A Day” citizens.

I’ll continue to seek out the finest in Irish joints, jigs and Jameson this week, but here’s what I’d recommend thusfar:

Skyloft:

The Director of Operations here – Jonathan Moore – is full-blooded Irish from Philly Town, which explains why his is the only gig in town hosting a giant bagpipers’ live music event and stoic march from the Roof Deck throughout the restaurant at sunset.

Skyloft doors open on St. Patrick’s Day at 11:00 a.m. with standard lunch specials ($10 Lunch Combos) and Irish drink specials all the live long day into night.

With recent love from the City of Laguna Beach (they extended Skyloft’s hours of operation), the St. Patrick’s Day live music party commences after the bagpipers exit, and rolls all the way to 1:00 a.m., with Skyloft’s Roof Deck open till midnight, and main dining and live music lounge doors open until 2:00 a.m.

The Bracken Band, a renowned band in movies, TV and national radio, will begin performing at 9:00 pm., with DJ Andrew Blunk keeping it hoppin’ during band breaks.

The Cliff:

From noon forward, The Cliff will be breaking out $4 Corned Beef Tacos, Irish Nachos and Corned Beef & Cabbage along with $3 Guinness beers and $7 Jameson shots.

Live music rolls from 7 – 10 p.m. with regional favorite, James Clay Garrison.

Hennessey’s:

You have to admit, they have the name going for them. Henessey’s opens at 7:00 a.m. on St. Patrick’s Day, with its world famous corned beef & cabbage dinner served all day long (even for breakfast) for just $14.95.

Hennessey’s standard Happy Hour runs 4 – 7 p.m. Be sure to check out the 2 Gingers Irish Whiskey cocktail and the World’s Largest Pint, complete with a 50-ounce souvenir glass.

I’ll be adding any additional new to my Facebook page – Facebook.com/BestofLagunaBeach – so if you have festivities going on, message me there!

Enjoy St. Patrick’s Day and may you truly find your 4-leaf clover!
