Given that The Broadway by Amar Santana is one of our most creative menus in Laguna Beach, it’s no surprise to see their new brunch menu with items as far ranging as Chicken & Waffles to Red Wine Braised Short Ribs with Pinot Poached Eggs.
Chef Amar just can’t stop himself.
The Broadway Brunch Menu offers openers such as Egg Salad on Brioche Toasts (very smooth) to a crunchy Caesar Kale Salad adapted from their dinner menu.
From there, dive into at least 12 options in brunch entrées. It starts unassumingly enough with popular egg choices you’d see elsewhere such as a Wild Mushroom, Bacon and Gruyere Omelette, Huevos Rancheros, and Eggs and Grits.
The Flat Iron Steak item is where you begin to see an Amar directional move as this “steak and eggs” dish comes with an unusually thick cut of grade A steak, eggs, rich whipped bernaise sauce and, well, fries. The Chicken & Waffles seems an unassuming dish until it sits in front of you – THESE waffles are rosemary infused with blueberries in just about every pocket, and a fresh berry coulis drizzled in with your syrup. The accompanying chicken is a far slab from oily fried. Breaded, yes, but flash fried to produce perfect fried chicken texture and great moistness. And who would have thought that Amar’s famous Braised Short Ribs would go so well with poached eggs in a pinot and thyme sauce drizzle?
Folks in the mood for lunch instead of breakfast are welcome to try the popular Cuban Sandwich with roasted pork, ham and gruyere, a Grilled Eggplant Panini and even a hefty burger or Pan-Roasted Trout.
This brunch comes with dessert choices (because every meal should per Amar’s motto of life) – My advice? You’ve come this far in brunch decadence. Just shrug and go with the Brownie Sundae with Salted Caramel Ice Cream drizzled in hot fudge.
