Dr Seuss Gallery Laguna Beach

Tonight, the Cat in the Hat arrives in Laguna Beach, which can only mean a party is in store. This time, though, the Cat in the Hat isn’t leaving.

Only the second if its kind in the United States, the Art of Dr. Seuss Gallery officially opens at 417 South Coast Highway in the north front corner of the Hotel Laguna. A ribbon cutting ceremony with the Chamber of Commerce takes place at 6:00 p.m., with a cocktail party ensuing. Both COO Steven Krajenka and President and Founder of the Art of Dr. Seuss, Bob Chase, Jr., will be greeting Laguna locals and visitors tonight, too.

An “Imaginacal” Transformation

Over the last month, you might have noticed the gallery transforming to the magnetic art of Dr. Seuss. While the Dr. Seuss Gallery in Laguna Beach features many well-known characters, it also houses Dr. Seuss’ “Secret Art,” which was released by his estate after his death.

You’ll also be seeing a whole lot of hats as the gallery celebrates the last exhibition for Hats of to Dr. Seuss! A year and a half ago, Audrey Geisel (Mrs. Dr. Seuss) allowed a coveted selection of Dr. Seuss’s hats to visit select galleries across the country. This is the only time any of these hats have traveled outside the legendary “hat closet” at Seuss House. The Laguna Beach gallery will be the last stop for this exhibition for quite some time.

As Dr. Seuss would remind you, “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.” Steer yourself into one of the most charming galleries to arrive in Laguna Beach!
