[singlepic id=490 w=320 h=240 float=left]Today I got my first secret glimpse of some of the classic cars and antique cars showing up for Laguna Beach’s 8th Annual Classic Car Show, which takes place Sunday, Oct. 16th, 2011. At our Festival of Arts grounds (where the Pageant of the Masters plays each summer), we’ll have more than 230 cars participating.

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Laguna Beach, cars will be competing for every imaginable class, including fabulous antiques pre-1931; American classics through the 40s, 50s and 60s; foreign classic sports cars; and classic Ferraris, Jaguars, Porsches, Woodies, and more, more, more. For those of you looking to buy a classic car of your own, there’s no better place and time as Laguna Beach pulls in some of the rarest finds around.

(If only my Dad were still alive, he’d be in Car Nirvana Heaven. These are the events he used to bustle me off to when I was still in kiddie tights and buckled patent leather shoes. I’ll be at the Laguna Beach event, of course, with bells on – Dad would be disappointed otherwise.)

Given that several Laguna Beach residents collect antique and classic cars, it’s just a quick drive down PCH to Laguna Canyon Road for many folks, so if you’re up early for coffee in our lovely town, you’re likely to see a  tour of cars trundling their way to the Canyon.

The event runs 9:30 a.m., to 3:30 p.m., and there is a small cover charge, though I’ve had some difficulty tracking down the exact amount.

Should you tire of all that gleaming polish, hood ornaments and custom tires, just sashay your way into downtown Laguna Beach, less than half a block away (and bring my Top Margaritas of Laguna Beach list with you!), or drop by the Laguna Beach Elite Volleyball Tournament at Main Beach.
