“Lucy” the Line Ref at Laguna’s Main Beach

Bred and born in Berkeley – the only yellow Dane in a litter of coal-black brothers and sisters – Lucy recognized at an early age that she wasn’t your run-of-the-mill Great Dane. At 9 weeks of age, she decided it was time to add some astute character and sophistication to the folks of Laguna Beach, and found her way to her person, a 15-year Laguna beach resident who just happens to like playing beach volleyball every week.

For four years now, Lucy has been a fixture at the Main Beach volleyball courts, lending regular objective rulings as the toughest line ref around.
