One of my dear friends, Angie, has created quite a Monarch Butterfly reserve in her backyard garden, and they are such wonders to see cocoon and eventually break free in all that dramatic color.

Come to find out, one of my favorite past clients, Susie Vanderlip, actually raises Monarch butterflies. She speaks all over, has published a children’s photo storybook and a 10-minute movie, The Story of Chester, The Monarch Caterpillar, and has even introduced a line of photographic greeting cards.

Susie will be speaking Wed, June 12th at 6:30 p.m. in a rare South County event at the Dana Point Community Center. She’s sponsored by the Dana Point Headlands Conservation Area (where I’ve seen many a Monarch fluttering about as I do my weekly runs).
