Laguna Beach’s famed Pageant of the Masters 2018 is the only one of its kind in the world. It’s a sizable annual venture that diligently re-creates famous paintings, sculptures and statues, from the famous DaVinci Las Supper to Rome’s famed Trevi Fountain (yes, live people are “plastered” from head to toe to resemble the characters in the fountain.” It’s really an extraordinary experience.

In its 85th year this summer of 2018, the Pageant’s theme is “Under the Sun,” celebrating plein air artistry (meaning “outdoor painting”). As Laguna Beach has been a plein air mecca since its early days as an art colony, expect many references to local legends as well as global impressionists and painters who set up their easels outdoors to paint nature’s true beauty.
