It is our very hope that the HIP District’s celebration of summer this weekend will coax the sun from her hiding plac!
Everyone’s invited to celebrate the awakening of summer this weekend in historic Laguna style with music, sales, and restaurant specials in the HIP District (which stands for Historic & Interesting Places). The HIP District is Laguna’s neighborhood just south of downtown on South Coast Highway and Glenneyre from Thalia to Bluebird (think everything from Gina’s Pizza and south, through the Pottery Place where my BFF resides at Laguna Beach Books, and to the beginning of the Las Brisas Hotel. Equally, the HIP District extends to everything in that space on ocean side, from Wahoo’s Tacos through the Surf & Sand Resort.
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, June 21-23, 45 HIP District merchants have joined together to offer sales, gifts, and drawings to usher in the summer in traditional Laguna style. Participating restaurants are offering discounts or special treats for the three-day event. Discounts from 10 to 25 percent are offered by stores throughout the District.
Live Music
On Friday, enjoy music by guitarist Tim Maiden at Huit (1495 S Coast Hwy) from 4-7 p.m. On Saturday on the patio of The Old Pottery Place from 1 to 3 p.m., there’s the music of Jus’ Friends Jazz and down the street from 1-5 p.m., hear The Clovis Twin Engine at the Art Center at 1495 S Coast Hwy.
