People are always asking me why we don’t have jazz or blues here in Laguna Beach, which really renders me speechless. Aside from the amazing jazz LagunaBeachLive! continues to introduce to Laguna every week or so, we have an inordinate number of residing celebrity jazz musicians and regional favorites living right here in Laguna Beach.
One such “local grown” jazz band is made up of pro musicians, the Rusty Gillette Trio, with Rusty at keyboards, Jack Prather on bass and Jorg Dubin on drums. When they’re not on their separate gigs, they’re wowing the crowds throughout Southern California.
Cary Redfearn, the owner of Lumberyard Restaurant in downtown Laguna Beach has always been a longtime jazz and blues fan, and he promotes great music every Friday and Saturday night from about 8:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. This Friday, April 24, it’s a particularly great evening to plan your music night out as the Rusty Gillette Trio will be performing there. They don’t often grace the Lumberyard stage, but when they do, you can expect a full house of happy fans.
