South Laguna Community Garden

It’s World Environment Day today and no better time than to get yourself into a Garden Cause!

As you’ve probably learned from my numerous blog entries before, the Sough Laguna Community Garden is a phenomenal success to behold. Planted just a few short years ago, the garden at PCH and Eagle Rock Way is a bloomin’ miracle to behold. At its Spring Festival just 5 weeks ago, more than 200 people showed up to celebrate the community it’s brought together.

The dear garden, however, is currently looking at eviction as its owner of the land has decide to put the property up for sale.

The garden does not plan to go quietly. Laguna residents and people from all over the world have joined the rallying cry, “Save the Garden!” and various benefits, bake sales, garden parties and more have popped up in the last few months in efforts to dramatically increase  donations to this tax-deductible little piece of heaven.

This Friday, June 7th, one of the largest benefits yet for the South Laguna Community Garden will occur at Laguna Nursery (1370 S. Coast Highway). It’s tons of catered food. It’s donated “beverages” from one of our soon-to-be-open restaurants, Selanne’s Steak Tavern. It’s a great silent auction of, among many things, donated art pieces from Laguna-based masters, resort stays, high-end decor items and a trip to Cabo San Lucas (our newest sister city). It’s live entertainment from the always-present grand piano in the middle of the nursery. And it’s a fun evening for all of us to celebrate what a single patch of dirt can do to bring an entire community together.

The party starts at 6:00 p.m. and end somewhere around 9:00 p.m.

Tax deductible tickets are $75. Come on. Let’s rally around a cause that is growing faster than all the veggies, flowers, herbs and fruits at the South Laguna Community Garden. Click here for tickets
