[singlepic id=477 w=320 h=240 mode=watermark float=right]This year’s Laguna Beach Plein Air Event 2011 is proving a huge success. The Laguna Art Museum has been putting this week-long invitational together for several years now, but the folks there have added so many great events to the year’s doings that it’s really been a fun week for all of us.

Today marked the last “Paint Out” competition between the 50+ Plein Air (landscape) artists who’ve gathered from all parts of the country. While their paintings dry, waiting to be added to the growing Silent Auction event, there’s still plenty to do over the next three days.

Tonight (Thursday) don’t miss the Plein Air Art Walk, a special Thursday night Laguna Beach event in honor of all these great plein air guests. They’ll be hanging out in various galleries, so get out and stroll this lovely night between 5 and 7 p.m.

On Friday (Oct. 14), these same Plein Air pros will be doing outdoor demonstrations at the Heisler Park Amphitheater in Laguna Beach. Again free to the public, it’s a great way to learn up-close-and-personal how they work in their different mediums to create the masterpieces they do. The demos begin at 11:00 a.m. through 12:30 p.m.

While the Silent Auction continues to allow people to bid on their favorite paintings at the Art Museum during opening hours any day of the week, the Silent Auction culminates at the Collectors’ Soiree Saturday evening. This is a great party with live music, catered food and cocktails, and hobnobbing with all the artists. The big artist awards will be given out and, of course, this is your best opportunity to snag the painting(s) you really want before the Silent Auction closes.

Tickets for the Collectors’ Soiree are $125 for Museum members and $150 for non-members, and they’re moving very quickly this year. Click here for tickets.

On Sunday, the Public Art Show and Sale begins at the Laguna Art Museum at 10:00 a.m. There are PLENTY of fantastic paintings still hanging on the walls at this point, so hustle down and add some original art to your home or office walls! When the event closes at 3:00 p.m., it will be the end of the entire, lovely, week with these amazing Plein Air artists. What a delight it’s been to have them dotting our town this week, painting everything we know and love about Laguna Beach.
