Friday, July 15th, 2011 – Gary and the Comb-Overs at Café Zinc
Every vegetable in the world dreams of becoming part of a dish at our local favorite Laguna Beach restaurant, Zinc Café.
[singlepic id=295 w=320 h=240 mode=watermark float=left] Zinc Cafe, a gourmet vegetarian restaurant on Ocean in Laguna, recently began its dinner service again, serving up its innovative salads, pizzettes and sandwiches, and lading out large quantities of its famous potato enchiladas and open-faced lasagne. The place has a great little wine list, too.
But on Thursday and Friday nights, the live jazz and swing entertainment comes awfully darn close to stealing the menu’s show. Gary Hogan is a veritable fixture in this Laguna town of ours. As he’s been playing for MANY decades (I promised him I wouldn’t say since which war), it seems he’s mastered every brass instrument imaginable.
Now, teamed with his equally talented buddies, Gary & The Comb-Overs manage a mere encyclopedia of songs from the 1930s forward. These boys are classics, in more ways than one. If you miss them this Friday night, make sure you catch them on a Thursday or Friday evening in the summer weeks ahead.
