Soul Community Planet (SCP), a wellness centered group focused on “Holistic Hospitality,” announced at the end of October that they have acquired their second hotel property in Laguna Beach. Hotel Seven4one, a boutique hotel on the same block as The Orange Inn marks the group’s second property in Laguna after acquiring The Laguna Riviera three weeks earlier. Hotel Seven4One is the seventh acquisition in the rapidly growing SCP portfolio.
After this second acquisition, the company decided to move its headquarters to Laguna Beach as well. The team is already operating in one of the recent acquisitions until renovation are completed in both locations.
The boutique property, located (surprisingly) at 741 South Coast Highway, features 12 rooms, including two suites with kitchenettes. With a beautiful front-facing living wall designed by my dear friend, Chris Karl, the former property owners were focused on renting the space to buyouts, essentially entire parties for reunions, weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs and more. With a center (outdoor) courtyard with rooms all around, it also features a second story sundeck with panoramic ocean views.
The hotel has been part of downtown Laguna Beach’s landscape for three quarters of a century. Built in 1940 between two historically significant streets – Cleo and St. Anne’s, famous for their distinctive surf scenes, the building’s bones remain unchanged.
In keeping with SCP’s brand and “Scandi-boho” design aesthetic, the property will be renovated to include new furniture, flooring and zen design features. The company might also use the property as a yoga retreat center for guests who are also housed at their Riviera property
“This property will be the perfect complement to our recently acquired Laguna Riviera Beach Resort, which will be rebranded in the coming months as the SCP Laguna Beach following our planned renovation program to better align the property with SCP’s healthy, kind and green core values,” said Soul Community Planet Co-Founder and CEO Ken Cruse.
SCP provides fully vegetarian menus and is committed to net zero waste. Intent on attracting the “conscious traveler,” SCP hotels are currently located in Laguna Beach, Calif., Colorado Springs, Colo., Redmond and Depoe Bay, Ore., Hilo, Hawaii, and Gleneden Beach, Ore. SCP has the goal of introducing at least 25 SCP locations in the U.S. by the end of 2023.
Depending on the venue, the group provides unique branded programs and services that include fitness rooms that include TRX, Peloton bikes and yoga/meditation spaces, communal co-working spaces for guests, provisions markets that feature locally-based fresh foods, and even “fair trade pricing” that allows guests to determine the price they pay at check out based on the quality of their experience.
