Ron Kobayashi jazz - Two left Forks

Thursday, March 17th rings in the green with St. Patrick’s Day parties abounding. Although we haven’t yet colored our ocean green, Laguna Beach has its share of fun planned with live music events and (of course) specials on corned beef, Irish whiskeys and green beer. (Please, for the love of God, call Uber or LIFT.)

Here are the shamrocks I’ve been able to dig up thusfar:

Henessey’s – This being our only official Irish pub, we have to list this one first. Henessey’s opens early on St. Pat’s Day and will likely be the last to close. No live music, but plenty of food and Irish drink specials.

Big Fish Tavern – Long Beach’s popular Kurtis Gentile & JP Peart offer up expert pop, rock and “Beatlesque” tunes, beginning 7:00 p.m.

Cliff & Firepit Lounge – Huntington Beach-based Special Blend plays top notch reggae and rock from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Marine Room Tavern – Enjoy a St. Pat’s party with drink specials all night and a mere $5 cover at the door for the (quite) famed Desperados. Santa Ana born and world travelers now, these guys will start the rocking at 9:00 p.m.

MozambiqueAmerican Idol’s Andrew Bloom keeps it mellow from 7 – 10 p.m.

SkyloftThe Young Guns, a high-energy 80s throwback band, is in play beginning 9:30 p.m.

The Ranch – In usual style, The Ranch is going all out with a 4:00 – 10:00 p.m. KX 93.5 radio will be broadcasting live until the main performance from (Irish) musician High Lehane at 5:00 p.m.

Participate in a glow golf chipping contest and whisky tastings, and enjoy Chef Carmon’s drink and appetizer specials in addition to his special St. Patrick’s Day menu (Shepard’s Pie? Oh my.).

Two Left Forks – Honorable mention here in my column as this week-old restaurant resides in Dana Point but is owned and operated by our own Laguna-based Andersen family … and this restaurant is turning Dana Point on its ear! Very impressed.

They’re making their own kind of splash for St. Patrick’s Day with the nationally renowned jazz band, The Ronn Kobayashi Trio with special guest, phenom R&B vocalist Andrea Miller. Even DP Councilman Scott Schoeffel is sitting in as virtuoso violinist. Gourmet corned beef tacos, plenty of Irish whiskeys and the restaurant’s full menu play along all night. Here’s their St. Patrick’s Day flyer.
