For the first time in history at The Vic, two brothers took down the venerable World Championship with Jake Stinnett taking 2nd place honors and little bro’ Sammy Stinnett taking 1st place honors. (It’s also a feather in Exile Skimboard’s cap as the company sponsors both brothers.)

A born-and-raised Laguna Beach family , the Stinnetts roost just a couple blocks from me, equi-distance between famed Laguna Beach skim beaches 1,000 Steps and West Street Beach. This is one serious skim family. In fact, Sammy was the youngest inductee to the UST skim pro ranks just days after his 15th birthday.

Teddly Vlasis took 3rd place honors while Blair Conklin took 4th for the Pro Men.

On the Pro Women’s side, it was another upset with newcomer (and just 14 years old) Catherine Squillonte taking 1st with Anna Prophet (last year’s Vic Champ) taking 2nd and Lanakila Kelliher taking 3rd place honors.
