Tamarind of London in Newport Coast closed and shuttered its doors and windows on Sunday, Oct. 4th. While the Michelin starred restaurant initially received accolades for its introduction of “real” Indian food to Southern California, business over these last few months continued to fall off and staff changes were occurring on a regular basis.
The folks at London headquarters have no comment to offer, and the Irvine Company is already fielding offers for this high-visibility location. Word on the street is that we just might see one of our own Laguna favorites expanding to a second location here in Newport Coast. I’ll keep you posted at our Facebook page as the story develops.
