Three big announcements this weekend, Aug. 18-20, 2023):
Potential Tropical Storm This Weekend
Laguna Beach is anticipating the possibility of heavy rains and surf this weekend and into early next week as Hurricane Hilary moves up from the Baja peninsula to the southwestern United States. Residents and businesses are being asked to prepare for the eventuality The only weekend event cancellation on the books as of “press time” on Friday afternoon is the Music in the Park event at Bluebird Canyon on Sunday. The City of Laguna Beach Arts Commission chose to postpone the band, Wild Child, until Sunday. Aug. 27th.
Festival Runway Fashion Show Rolls on Sunday, Aug. 20th
The fabulous Festival Runway Fashion Show is still scheduled for this Sunday, Aug. 20th, at the Festival grounds from noon to 3 p.m. This is a fun and quite surprising fashion shows that features Festival artists creating high-brow couture out of recycled, reused and reclaimed materials. (In other words, trash). This year’s show will be hosted by my dear buddy, Hollywood’s leading Production Designer Nelson Coates. A full panel of special guest judges will determine this year’s most creative winners.
The event is free with festival admission, but you can purchase a $30 seat in the reserved section if you act fast. Go here for those limited seats.
Sawdust Art Festival Featuring “Spirit of Aloha” 3-day fundraiser starting today (Friday)
Beginning this Friday through Sunday, the Sawdust Art Festival will be donating a portion of all ticket proceeds to the Maui Strong Fund for the Hawaii Community Foundation. While an additional donation center will be set up on the grounds, special music performances and art classes will be themed and inspired by the Hawaiian culture.
Wear your Hawaiian shirts to share your “spirit of aloha” and purchase tickets online here or at the Sawdust ticket boxes.
Thank you for all the good history and memories! I love The Stand, hope someone can save her!
