Athena Day Spa

Each of our Laguna Beach resort hotels offers a full menu of spa services, massages and body wraps, but we locals rarely frequent these places. When we’re looking for a great, reasonably priced massage, we head down to the Athena Day Spa just under the Laguna Surf Resort.

Locals receive 10% off, and first-timers receive the same 10% treat at Athena Day Spa until December 1, 2009. Get on in there!

Located at the crest of the hill on PCH and Legion Ave. in the center of town, Athena Day Spa offers a cornucopia of therapeutic massages, body wraps and facials from long-time therapists who really know their stuff – these are not beginners in the trade here. (My favorite is Beatriz, but be sure to tell them what you prefer so they can most closely match a specific therapist to your needs – if, for instance, you prefer peace and quiet during a massage, the furthest thing from relaxation would be a talkative therapist, right?).

Try therapeutic massage, hot stone therapy, reflexology, body wraps or any number of  Athena’s European and hydrating facials. Or, bring your sweetie in for a table-by-table couples massage.

Aside from an always-great massage, Athena is a favorite with Laguna Beach locals because of its convenience, parking accessibility even in the height of summer (underground parking available), and its down-to-earth pricing. (As you can probably guess – in Laguna Beach, reasonable pricing is a difficult thing to find.) And, Athena Day Spa is as quiet as a stone – even sitting right there next to PCH.

What Insiders Know About Athena Day Spa

As I noted, locals and first timers always receive 10% off, but Athena also offers a great 30-minute “Lunch Break” massage for just $50. It’s a fabulous pick-me-up to help you through the remainder of the day or to shrug off recent travel kinks.

Hours are usually Sunday – Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday. 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., but Athena will also work around your schedule. Give them a call at 949-376-7918.

How to find Athena Day Spa:

At 611 S. Coast Highway, Athena Day Spa is just about 3 blocks south of Laguna’s Main Beach (at PCH and Broadway). When heading south, you’ll see its underground parking garage just a few feet past the light on the right (ocean side) of Legion Street. Call for appointments at 949-376-7918.
