Plein air artists from all over the world are descending on Laguna Beach for our 11th annual Plein Air Invitational weeklong event. This is really an amazing event to see and, better yet, most of it is free!

Sponsored by the Laguna Art Museum, this rare and world-renowned Plein Air Week begins Sunday, Oct 11 when 50 artists of all make and model gather at Treasure Island Park (right next to the Montage Resort) in South Laguna from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. All of their Sunday creations will be on display at the Museum during the week, and for sale when the Soiree begins on Saturday. . .. but first, more details of the week’s events . . .

From Monday through Friday (Oct. 12-16), you’re going to see Plein Air artists dotting the entire town of Laguna Beach as they set up easels and paints in their favorite locations. While many of these artists can be found in the more central areas of Laguna Beach – like Heisler Park, the Brooks Street mini-amphitheater, and easy-access hilltops on the inland side of PCH – you’ll also find them further south at the Montage Resort grounds and overlooking the beautiful southernmost beaches of Table Rock, West Street, and Aliso Creek.

Be sure to seek these folks out as they’ll be painting the very works of art that you’ll see hanging on the Museum’s walls at the culmination of the event Each invited artist will choose 3 paintings for the auction and Soiree on Saturday evening … but there’s still more before we get to the big party …

On Saturday morning, Oct. 17th, at Heisler Park right next to the Museum, trot over to see all 50 artists participate in a Quick Draw event that starts at 9:00 a.m. SHARP. They have just two hours to complete a masterpiece and it’s a great time to wander through and select your favorite artists for potential purchases.

But before you wander away … at 11:00 a.m., a silent auction will take place at the Museum to sell all the Quick Draw pieces … if you just can’t live without one of these works of arts, you’d better be making fast tracks to the Museum!

OK, NOW (at last) for the party for Plein Airs …
The Soiree at the Museum begins at 6:00 p.m. Here’s your chance to view and purchase original, signed paintings that have been created this very week. TICKETS GO VERY QUICKLY FOR THIS EVENT. They sell for $125 to Museum members, and $150 for non-members. Go to www.LagunaArtMuseum.org to get your tickets now.

Then, the denouement to this amazing Laguna Beach Plein Air event …
On Sunday, Oct. 18th, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the Museum will be open to the public for viewing and purchase of paintings. Don’t fear ¬ – while the artists’ favorite three might have sold the night prior, they’ll be adding more paintings to the walls for public consumption. Hustle on down from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
